In Montreal data centers, access to your live server via SSH (Linux) or Remote Desktop (Windows) will be provided within 24 hours, or 2 hours for servers with the Smart Layer. The delay may be longer for iWeb dedicated servers in other INAP data centers. If you have ordered a control panel, you will be able to access this once the server is live. Whatever you choose, you can access your client account immediately upon ordering.
The minimum contract length is one month.
All prices and payments are in US Dollars (USD). Payments can be made via credit card, PayPal or cheque, and must be paid in advance of each billing cycle.
Our qualified team can help migrate your current server to iWeb. Some fees may apply, or you can use some support time from a server management plan.

All hardware is quality-assured before an order is completed. In the event that your hardware were to fail at any time during the life of your server, iWeb will replace the faulty hardware free of charge within a maximum of 4 hours. Due to the inherent risk to your data from hardware, application and user errors, iWeb strongly recommends backing up your data.

Some servers can be upgraded before deployment or by raising a ticket once live. Please check available upgrades before you order by clicking to configure a server, as these are the only upgrades that will be available before or after deployment. Upgradeable servers with the Smart Layer can be upgraded directly in the Control Center once the server is live.
iWeb dedicated servers have a limit of 5 IP addresses as standard, although further IP addresses are available upon request with justification. You can host several websites on a single IP address.
RAID architectures (0, 1, 5, 10 etc.) are designed to increase data reliability, disk space and/or Input/Output (I/O) performance. Hardware (HW) RAID solutions are specialized hardware components connected to the server motherboard, while software (SW) RAID options are implemented at the operating system level.

The Smart Layer uses virtualization to create a portable virtual server that can be managed in the Control Center and easily migrated between servers by raising a ticket (including data, configurations and IP). Servers with the Smart Layer are also deployed faster, within 2 hours. Please note that the Smart Layer uses a small portion of the server’s RAM and does not permit further virtualization on your server.
You can choose the software to install by clicking to configure a server. Software options include a range of Linux and Windows Operating Systems, control panels and virtualization software.
iWeb can also provide installation, configuration and management support for a range of other supported software, at a fixed hourly rate or as part of a server management plan.

When installed by iWeb, the software license costs are included in the total price of your server. When you click to configure a server you will see all available software options and prices. The total price of your server configuration will update according to your software choices, ready for you to review before purchase.
Software vendors do occasionally change their licensing prices. If a software vendor changes its licensing prices, iWeb will notify you of the details of any changes to future invoices at least one month before the change in licensing prices is applied to your service.
iWeb does not allow you to install or use your own Microsoft software except under the strict conditions that you have valid Microsoft Independent Software Version (ISV) license(s) with Microsoft Software Assurance (SA), and this fact has been formally validated in writing by iWeb.
iWeb offers a range of virtualization software options, including VMware, Xen Project or Microsoft Hyper-V. Some virtualization software is available when you click to configure a server. Others require you to start a live chat with a sales advisor or call us for more information.

Dedicated servers in iWeb’s Montreal data centers have 100Mbps ports as standard, which can be upgraded to 1Gbps upon request. Using a Virtual Private Rack allows you to mix and match redundant 1Gbps and 10Gbps local and public connections.
iWeb dedicated servers in all other data centers in the INAP network have 1Gbps bandwidth as standard.

Most dedicated servers in iWeb’s Montreal data centers feature unmetered traffic, meaning all traffic is included in the price. Some servers in Montreal and all servers in other INAP data centers include a specified amount of traffic in the price then charge for subsequent traffic at a flat rate. For full details, check the server and pricing tables.
In all cases, traffic charges are calculated per calendar month and invoiced separately to the server invoice.
When you order a server, you can choose between iWeb’s data centers in Montreal (Canada) or a selection of other INAP data centers.
All our data centers have redundant power supplies and network connections. This N+1 network and power redundancy is designed to maintain network and power availability even in the event of localized outages.
You alone control access to the data on your dedicated server. Neither iWeb nor any other third party has access to your data without your express permission. Your data is stored under the laws of the jurisdiction in which the data center is located. For example, data on dedicated servers in iWeb’s Montreal data centers is stored under Canadian data laws.
Both cloud and dedicated hosting consist of hosted computing and storage that you can access remotely. However, each has its own unique benefits. A dedicated server is a private environment with specific hardware that is dedicated to one host. Cloud hosting is a multi-tenant environment that uses virtualization to provide cost-efficiencies, automation and other convenience features.
With dedicated hosting, you are the sole user of your private server hardware and bandwidth. With Shared (including Public Cloud, VPS, Shared Web Hosting), the available compute resources, bandwidth and storage capacity are shared with other tenants.
A dedicated server is more powerful and secure than a VPS. With a dedicated server, you have dedicated computing resources, storage and bandwidth. With a VPS you share all this with other tenants.
Bare-metal server is a synonymous with dedicated server. Bare-metal cloud is a dedicated server with the billing characteristics of cloud hosting. Bare-metal cloud can be deployed in a matter of minutes rather than hours, and its usage billed hourly or daily instead of monthly. A bare-metal cloud may not be as readily customizable as a dedicated server.
